I grew up in a small village in the rural Swedish countryside. I’ve had an interest in games ever since I played my first board game. I began making my own board games out of cardboard and when I played my first digital video game, Donkey Kong Country for the SNES, I knew that I wanted to make games.
I got my first computer at thirteen and googled the phrase “game maker” because it sounded like a plausible application in which I could make my own computer games. To my astonishment I was right and immediately began creating games. The games were terrible, but they were games and my journey as a game developer had begun.
Apart from Game Maker where I started, I’ve worked with Unreal Engine 4, Unreal Development Kit and Unity over the years. When multiple systems need to function, that’s when I thrive in my work. Making the objects on screen do as I dictate is the best feeling and I love every moment of it.
I studied game design and programming at Uppsala University, Campus Gotland and the courses involved both programming and game design. During my studies I learned different game design methodologies and increased my programming skills substantially.
In December of 2014 I began working on my most ambitious project yet, Warpers, a space exploration game where the players roam the galaxies in a spaceship of their own design. In the spring of 2016 I was hired as a gameplay programmer at the independent game development studio Experiment 101 located in Stockholm, Sweden.
TL;DR: Grew up making board games. Found the software Game Maker and started programming games. Went on with Unity and Unreal Engine 4. Studied game design and programming at Uppsala University. Began my professional career as a gameplay programmer at Stockholm based Experiment 101.
